What type of plugs and sockets are used in Syria?

When you are going on a trip to Syria, be sure to pack the appropriate travel plug adapter that fits the local sockets. But what do those electrical outlets look like? Syria uses European-style plugs and receptacles, but there does not seem to be an official standard. Ungrounded sockets are always type C, but the grounded ones can be the Belgian type E, the German type F or the Italian type L. Fortunately, all of them are mutually compatible, except for type L.

Type C

  • commonly used in Europe, South America & Asia
  • 2 pins
  • not grounded
  • 2.5 A, 10 A & 16 A
  • almost always 220 – 240 V
