What type of plugs and sockets are used in Mauritius?

When you are going on a trip to Mauritius, be sure to pack the appropriate travel plug adapter that fits the local sockets. But what do those electrical outlets look like? Mauritius uses the same system (type G) as in the United Kingdom (a legacy of its past as a British colony), but it also uses the French type C / E plug and socket system. It is common to find both — incompatible — socket types installed side by side.

Background information

Type E and type G sockets installed side by side.

Mauritius uses French-style type C/E sockets together with British type G receptacles. Often, these two incompatible socket types are installed right next to each other. The use of type G sockets reflects the British colonial heritage of Mauritius, while the presence of types C and E is due to the influence of its large neighbour, Madagascar.
