World map showing the spread of EV connector & inlet types around the world

The world map below visualises the spread of the different EV connector and inlet types in use around the world. The majority of the world (deep blue) have standardized on the type 2 & CCS2 combination. Red countries use the type 1 & CCS1 combination and the North American Charging Standard (Tesla), with the latter being the de facto standard. China (yellow) has developed its own charging system, called GB/T, and Japan (sea-green) mainly uses CHAdeMO for direct current charging and type 1 for alternating current charging, but the North American Charging Standard (Tesla) is becoming increasingly popular.
