What type of plugs and sockets are used in Myanmar?

When you are going on a trip to Myanmar, be sure to pack the appropriate travel plug adapter that fits the local sockets. But what do those electrical outlets look like? There is no official standard in Myanmar and the country takes a mix-and-match approach to electrical plugs and receptacles. European two-pin plugs (types C, E and F), British type G plugs, along with American types A and B and Australian-style three-pin plugs (type I) are all used across the country. That is why virtually all homes and hotels have universal sockets that are usable with many different types of plugs.

Background information

The ubiquitous Myanmar receptacle that accepts plug types A, B, C, D, E, F, G, I and O.

Myanmar has never had an official plug standard and all of its neighbours have standardized on different plug and socket systems: India uses type D, China has type I, Laos and Thailand mainly use type C and Malaysia uses the British type G standard. This explains why so many different plug types are used in Myanmar. Because of this confusing situation, virtually all homes and hotels have universal sockets that accept almost all plug types used around the world.
